Position in the Business - Growth Manager for Scotland

How did the business start?

Bright Horizons was founded to provide an innovative solution to the lack of affordable, high-quality, childcare for working families. Throughout the United Kingdom, we have a portfolio of more than 300 community and workplace nurseries. Alongside community nurseries, our business and expertise also include employer-sponsored family care. We are proud to partner with many respected organisations in both the private and public sectors to provide workplace nurseries and back-up care programmes which cover children, adults and elders.

What sets your business apart?

It is our mission to continue to make a difference to children, families and employers, and to provide the highest quality early care and education for each child in each nursery, every day. We strive to nurture each child’s unique qualities and potential, support families through strong partnership and collaborate with employers to build family-friendly workplaces.

Why did you join the company?

I worked as a nursery nurse, progressing up the career ladder to the role of area manager for a small group of nurseries and out of school clubs. However, I wanted to be part of a company that met the needs of their children and families along with being at the heart of their local communities. This led me to my current role, which I am very passionate about, creating a culture of high-quality childcare with nurseries that are embedded in local communities.

What is your favourite part of the business?

I enjoy being part of a team that all share the same goal. The facilities for staff training are excellent and as I am a lifelong learner these are a real advantage to not only me but the whole team.

How do you spend your time away from work?

When I am not at work, I love nothing better than spending time with my 5 year old daughter Ellah; whether it is Gruffalo hunting in the woods, building sand castles in our hats and scarfs or heading over to Ireland to visit my nieces and nephew. Family time is the most important part. I am also completing my BA in childhood studies part time at Dundee University.
